Locally owned, with two complementary beginnings
Sweet Bloom identifies founder Andy Sprenger and Eric Yochim as its owners. Sprenger launched the Lakewood roaster in 2013; Yochim founded Arvada’s Two Rivers Coffee and joined forces with Sweet Bloom in 2019. The operator describes Sprenger’s work as focused on sourcing and quality, with Yochim leading the cafes. That combines the roasting business and the everyday hospitality of a neighborhood coffee stop.
The company says it buys smaller seasonal lots and changes its offerings with harvest cycles. Its producer pages and brew guides make a bag of coffee a starting point for learning about origin and preparation, rather than just another souvenir. Those are operator descriptions, not a claim that we independently audited its supply chain.
There is recent independent recognition too: Axios reported on October 1 that Sweet Bloom earned Best Roaster in the U.S. and Canada at the Global Coffee Awards. An award is a reason to be curious, not a guarantee that every roast or drink will match your taste.
Make the Lakewood visit useful
The current operator schedule lists the Lakewood roastery and cafe Monday–Saturday, 7 a.m.–1 p.m. Plan for an early stop rather than an afternoon cafe visit, and confirm holiday or Sunday service directly. The hours at Arvada and Westminster are different; do not apply them to Reed Street.
If you are choosing beans for home, bring two details: how you brew and the flavors you enjoy. Ask which current coffee fits that method, when it was roasted and how to start brewing it. The online selection is seasonal; a particular bag or drink seen online is not a promise of stock at the cafe.
Want a more structured introduction? Sweet Bloom publishes classes and tasting sessions, but locations, prices and bookings vary. Check the exact event address before registering; an event advertised by the company is not necessarily at this roastery. Confirm access, seating and parking arrangements for your visit directly rather than inferring them from photos.
This profile concerns an established business you can visit now. Its separate Golden cafe at Clayworks is still announced, not verified open; the development notebook follows that milestone. If you are comparing places to live, keep Lakewood and Denver addresses distinct and start with our Denver neighborhood comparison framework—this cafe is not inside a Denver statistical neighborhood.
Address, operating schedule, owner claims and offerings reviewed against first-party pages October 16. Independent reporting corroborates the Lakewood business and award. Location imagery is credited to Sweet Bloom Coffee Roasters and linked on its own site; reuse rights were not established, so no photo is copied. This is source-based reporting, not a claimed interview or firsthand tasting.
